BTW…as much as they turned into trendfucks…or trendfucks trying to “milk” anothert genre..I do thank them for “Hunger”…
I live in the North….winters are brutal…
in the old days..in the middle of winter….nothing better than throwing “Hunger” in the CD player…driving further north into the mountains…heat down low…window down…a couple of road beers…
and just listening to those weird minor chord arrangements….repeating over and over…
no bass at all….
just brilliant atmosphere…
it’s a shame they wanted to be drunk stupid punks instead of creating atmosphere like that…
lo-fi atmosphere….without keyboards….without production.

darkthrone turned into a comedy band and that’s it. the album title says it all.
but they gave us a handful of great albums, so thanks guys, i don’t mind if you produce comedy crap or would turn into goth rockers or whatever shit i don’t like in the future.
it’s the same with david bowie, he produced phantastic stuff in the 70s and turmed into crap later on, but, who cares? the great music lives on.
most bands are not able to record one magic album as good as fe transylvanian hunger in a lifetime, so… i think: darkthrone made a new album? oh, did they?

Who said “Total Death” was the last good one? It was merely ok in my opinion and hardly essential. “Panzerfaust” was probably the last worthwhile Darkthrone release.

Everyone says that Total Death was the last good one. You are sheepish idiots. Even if you aren’t into the new direction since Cult Is Alive, Sardonic Wrath has some of Fenriz’ best lyrics and Hate Is The Law and Information Wants To Be Syndicated alone are better than the entirety of Total Death.
