Lyric excerpt:

“No Feelings (No Ideas)” from the album “Total Deaf” (Peaceville 2009)

No feelings inhabit my dark soul
No feelings, just Rock ’n’ Roll
I can’t think of anything to say
But I’ll fucking say it anyway

No feelings
Dead inside
No feelings
Like I died
No feelings
Hide the tears
No feelings
No ideas

    AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

    So true.

  12. Emanuele Says:

i really don’t understand you all people. black metal and the majority of metal is different from pop music because it’s not done to please the audience, it’s done for something different and if a band wishes to change thay can do it, period, that’s the beauty of it. if you don’t get that first you’ll never get what black metal is. if you want another transilvanian hunger or another under a funeral moon just go to a cd shop and buy another copy of them. in 1991 when a blaze in the northern sky was released all the death metal fans were shocked as you are now by listening to f.o.a.d. or dark thrones and black flags. fuck there’s billions of black metal bands that play like older darkthrone, you think that’s grim and elite and black metal having billions of band that play the same stuff over and over again? that was the case with death metal in 1991, so you are just some useless death metal fan (black metal as of today) who just want his death metal harmless and like any other band of the planet. darkthrone are maybe not reinventing the genre again as they play nothing new i know, some thrash and punk from the eighties, but they will never fall in the trend of being like other billions bands.

  13. Popłoch Says:

they were a blaze in the northern sky ….

  14. Doug Vance Says:

Emanuele, what if there is more to metal than what is tangible/visible/audible? Maybe metal is an art medium for transmitting and reinforcing ideas. If it strays from this work, it isn’t metal, it’s just harsh pop rock to get some money from the hip and clueless, but gives nothing useful back in return.

  15. Snarzdar Says:

    I agree with emanuelle.

This was a funny stab from a guy that doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

  16. Cargést Says:

Emanuele – Darkthrone are “like other billions bands”. They’re just “other billions bands” that broke up in the ’80s and ’90s because they had said all that they could say with their music – hell, “primitive Black Metal” had said all it could say, as a whole. That is why there was an evolution, why a “second wave”, with a better sound, came about. You’re right, rehashing old ideas is pointless, and the Darkthrone/Emperor/Burzum/Mayhem clones are crap. However, instead of going backwards, don’t you think it might make more sense to go forwards?

  17. Emanuele Says:

Doug Vance: yes of course metal is something more i know, i like very much Negura Bunget for example and i can definitely say that they are a band that makes you feel “man, that was an experience” after listening to one of their albums. anyway i have to say that i am floored emotionally not only by an album that makes me think or makes me angry or makes me dream but also by an album that makes me mosh and destroy, there’s nothing wrong with that. and metal started from that, a rebellion, and black metal too.

Cargést: yes, you are totally right, even if in a world like this it is hard to innovate something, let alone in metal music, which is caged by unwritten rules and elitism. all genres are pretty much done, so i think that doing what one likes it’s the way. darkthrone are doing that. that said, everyone is obviously free to not like their albums, also as i said earlier black metal is most of all a musical rebellion (musical, mind you) from the boring and copycats death metal band and from that unwritten rules i spoke of before, and even mayhem and darkthrone back in the day were inspired by celtic frost/hellhammer (just listen to a blaze in the northern sky), bathory (by listening to under the sign of the black mark and blood fire death you will know where all the symphonic and pagan bands come from) and in attitude by punk and venom. so what? bathory and celtic frost has done it already, you think because of that there had to be no mayhem or burzum? the intellactual, spiritual and philosophical concept later adopted were just a consequence of the musical rebellion. as an example: black metal has not to be satanic to be black metal, the satanic imagery is just the lyrical counterparty of the musical extremism. it could have been something else. black metal has not to be only “going forwards” it is just “gonig against the tide” and “do what you like and don’t give a fuck” or ,mixing our points of view, “going forwards just for yourself”. anyway i actually like some bands that went foraward as Dødheimsgard, Arcturus, Sigh, Meads of Asphodel and such… don’t crucify me for that, i also like Grand Declaration of War. hehehe ;)

  18. Devamitra Says:

I consider Darkthrone the greatest, the ultimate black metal band of all time. Period.

Yet, I would like to raise the notion that Darkthrone was always a trend-jumper, always going with the flow, from the Sunlight Studios doomdeath of “Soulside Journey” to the retro metal of “Dark Thrones…”. Even around the time of “Under a Funeral Moon” they were accused by reviewers of being trendy and they were right.

  19. LORD LOSER OF THE TWELFTH DYNASTY Says:

Hey fags, still hating on the ‘new’ DARKTHRONE sound what, 3 years later? Tut-tut, really kids. Here’s some words of advice – DON’T LISTEN TO THEM. You think Fenriz rushed out to buy Death Magnetic last year? Of course he didn’t. You think if I hated eating pizza I would continue to do so just to warrant complaining about it? You guys are plastic, lame and weak…

  20. Cargést Says:

The thing is, Fenriz trashed his earlier works, which gives us, his greatest and most fervent supporters, the right to trash his new “music”.

  21. Doug Vance Says:

To Lord Peace, Tolerance and Equality calling itself Lord Loser:

The entire point here is to not put up with the growth of defect, but to stand vigilant in opposition to it. Maybe lefty nu-metal is more to your liking?

  22. Emanuele Says:

still… after those philosophical, humorous rambling speeches… the point is that this post sucks… it is obvious that the album it’s not darkthrone… the front cover is from Golers’ Backwoods Messages (you can see the title engraved on the pig… you know if you want to do a joke at least do it well…). anyway the song is not by Golers, i actually don’t know which is that band.

  23. L-Belial Says:

“it is obvious that the album it’s not darkthrone…”

Many people in other popular forums disagree :D

  24. A Says:

“To Lord Peace, Tolerance and Equality calling itself Lord Loser:

The entire point here is to not put up with the growth of defect, but to stand vigilant in opposition to it.”

By complaining on the internet? That’ll show em! hahaha

  25. Admin Says:

A: It’s not so far-fetched. Wars are decided on the basis of public opinion nowadays.

  26. douchefetus Says:

    lmfao!

    This is great!

    cool IN refference

  27. Extremist Says:

    Shit!!!!
    Trash!!!!

    Hail Panzerfaust!!!!!

    Hail Total DEATH!!!!

  28. Kālī's Mauser Says:

    Hilarious.

The kicker was the ‘backwards messages’ on the side of the sodomized hog. It is indeed many years and cases of beer after the spine tingling ‘The dance of eternal shadows’.

What happened? I’m not sure. I just don’t care. They tanked after ‘Total Death’, which itself was rather weak.

  29. Torrey Says:

This has got to be the best troll ever. A ton of people on other sites believed this, and some third rate russian pirate sites even were trying to sell people MP3s of this album.

  30. goat Says:

Everyone says that Total Death was the last good one. You are sheepish idiots. Even if you aren’t into the new direction since Cult Is Alive, Sardonic Wrath has some of Fenriz’ best lyrics and Hate Is The Law and Information Wants To Be Syndicated alone are better than the entirety of Total Death.

  31. Admin Says:

Who said “Total Death” was the last good one? It was merely ok in my opinion and hardly essential. “Panzerfaust” was probably the last worthwhile Darkthrone release.

Anyway goat, you’re the “sheepish idiot” seeing as how it’s so cool to lick Fenriz’s ass nowadays. HIS MUSIC NOW IS SHIT. RIP DARKTHRONE.
